Overview
Despite our love of formal training, much of the evidence suggests that learning happens between people and is best facilitated by peers. Creating a learning environment is key to all our work and, although never directly funded, our focus during our work in Newsham Park was to create an enabling network. This meant that we worked hard to foster relationships between different groups within the local community.
These differences in ethnicity, age, and socio-economic status were only reinforced by the ways in which funding was targeted at particular groups or particular problems. To overcome that, we deliberately sought to keep all activities open to everyone, not only on paper but in spirit. We also sought to create a safe psychological environment that enabled people to connect across perceived differences and find common ground between them.
The evidence of the success of this informal network can be found in the number of ongoing friendships between former participants and the extent to which the network-enabled people to share resources, help, experience and advice in ways that did not encourage dependency or foster shame.

We Exist Through Community
Most of the things we do get done because people give generously free of their time, ideas energies and resources and we rely on their generosity to do the things that we do. If you want to help here are a few ways that you can show your support.
Here are some ways in which you can support our community:
Supporting the Phoenix Glade project
You can help make Phoenix Glade a reality through supporting the project. Treehouse and its partners are committed to delivering the project come what may but our goal is to raise the necessary budget of £11,000. We will first prioritise the tree planting, flowers and then fire sculpture and so far we have raised £2000 from West Derby Waste Lands Trust and also been offered generous in-kind help from Liverpool Council.
The costing for the second phase of the project with a permanent sculpture is currently being developed but may be between five thousand pounds or more depending on decisions about its final size. You can support any element of the Phoenix Glade and in doing so play a personal part in what it aims to achieve. Click the button below to donate via PayPal.
If you are part of an organisation that would support this project on a larger scale please get in touch directly.
They say money makes the world goes round, and although we don’t feel it does – people do, sometimes a little bit of cash can do some great things. If you’d like to make a donation, please use the form below. All donations will be spent directly on resourcing our work – whether that is covering volunteer’s expenses, funding some equipment or plants, or paying people to deliver an openly accessible activity for our community.

Donate to Treehouse
From time to time we need specific tools and resources to deliver our activities. We are also very choosey about the trees and plants we use in our projects. They have to be beautiful, AND contribute to wild life AND be in keeping with the natural habitat. If rather than giving a donation you would like to show your support by purchasing these resources directly, please contact us regarding the resources we are currently in need of.
